    Printable Appliance Maintenance Checklist

    Ten minutes a month prevents most repair calls. Print this page and tick items off.

    Washer

    • Monthly: Run an empty hot cleaning cycle with washer cleaner or 2 cups vinegar
    • Monthly: Wipe the door gasket and leave the door open to dry
    • Every 3 months: Clean the drain pump filter (front-load)
    • Yearly: Check fill hoses for bulges or cracks; replace every 5 years

    Dryer

    • Every load: Empty the lint screen
    • Every 3 months: Wash the lint screen with soap to remove softener film
    • Yearly: Clean the full vent run to the outside wall — a leading cause of house fires

    Refrigerator

    • Monthly: Check temps: fridge 4°C, freezer -18°C
    • Every 6 months: Vacuum the condenser coils
    • Every 6 months: Replace the water filter
    • Yearly: Clean door gaskets and test the seal with a sheet of paper

    Dishwasher

    • Monthly: Remove and rinse the filter
    • Monthly: Run an empty hot cycle with dishwasher cleaner
    • Every 3 months: Clear spray-arm holes with a toothpick

    Oven / Range

    • Monthly: Wipe spills before they bake on
    • Every 3 months: Clean the range hood grease filter
    • Yearly: Gas: check flame is blue, not yellow

    Furnace & water heater

    • Every 1–3 months: Change the furnace filter (monthly in winter)
    • Fall: Book a furnace tune-up before the first cold snap
    • Yearly: Flush the water heater tank to remove sediment
    • Yearly: Test smoke and CO alarms
